Onda’s Corteo Della Vittoria walks through the streets of Siena

What the 4th of July is for the Americans (Independence Day), it is the same for the Ondaioli after their victory in the Piazza del Campo with Tabacco and Brigante. Yesterday, in the late afternoon, the victory procession, with floats, songs, music and much joy, passed through the streets of Siena. The children who open the procession hold an umbrella, reminiscent of the rain of early July, and a sign with the words “Scende la pioggia” (The rain is coming).

There are many references to Carlo Sanna: in his honor there are the Samnite warriors and also the return of the briganti (bandits). To celebrate the horse that gave them the joy of victory, the contradaioli organize a Tobacco Pride.

Finally, Carlo Sanna parades with Captain Alessandro Toscano and Priore Massimo Difesa.

We are happy to share images of the complete corteo.
